Patcharapon Tangruen, popularly known as Alex Face, made his name in the street art world with his iconic grumpy, bunny suit-wearing child character, which he uses to communicate themes such as the environment, urbanism and social inequality. He began his art career on the streets of Bangkok while still a university student. While his early works focused on identify formation and social commentary, an important turning point came with the birth of his daughter, inspiring him to create a three-eyed child character symbolising the innocent vulnerability of children and his concerns about the world his daughter would grow up in. This distinctive character resonated with a wide range of audiences and went on to become a street art and international contemporary art icon.

Alex Face began to develop a serious interest in sculpture in 2012, when his solo exhibition The Underground Adventure took place in Bangkok. This development marked an important milestone in his experimentation with more permanent and tangible materials. In the 2020 exhibition Monument of Hope he explored the meaning of monuments and hope through large-scale sculptures. FLY, the largest bronze sculpture ever created by the artist, is inspired by human efforts to overcome limitations through aviation and conveys themes of growth and overcoming obstacles. Embodying a coming together of stories and memories from his art career, the sculpture is on display in a place of personal importance. In 2000, Alex Face partnered with friends to open a small art gallery at the now-defunct Suan Lum Night Bazaar. After closing for the night, he would join a crew of Thai and foreign artists who went around creating street art in the neighbourhood. He also has a long-standing relationship with leading art gallery, BANGKOK CITYCITY GALLERY, located in Soi Sathorn 1, a short distance from One Bangkok. FLY, therefore, represents a full circle of sorts for the artist.
