Yuri Suzuki is a sound artist and designer who uses sound as a medium to shape spaces and engage the public. He uses AI and machine learning to produce soundscapes that evolve in real time with the environment and the listener’s voice contributions.
Metropolitan Symphony No. 2 is inspired by both the English musician Brian Eno’s concept of ambient music and the history of Saladaeng Radiotelegraph Station, the first facility of its kind in Thailand. With a sculptural form inspired by trumpets and horns, the work promotes emotional well-being by generating relaxing, ever-evolving sound patterns.
Its soundscape, a blend of environmental recordings and fragments of Thai language, offers listeners moments of calm, while its design includes built-in seating of different sizes, allowing it to also serve as a public rest spot.
