URBAN FURNITURE COLLABORATION is a campaign initiated by One Bangkok, intending to collect used plastic water bottles for recycling and transforming them into public furniture and used once again within the project area.

This campaign is an extension of the “Urban Furniture” project by One Bangkok’s Art and Culture team, which invited employees to participate by donating PET plastic bottles and taking part in a small-scale furniture model competition. The initiative reflects the concept of sustainable design combined with material innovation and the power of community.

This campaign is the result of a collaborative effort among multiple partners:

  • Frasers Property Management Services (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (FPMST)
  • SCG Chemicals (SCGC)
  • Thai Beverage Recycle Co., Ltd. (TBR)

as well as contributions from FPMST personnel, who helped drive awareness activities and the model design competition.

Implementation of the Campaign

The initiative was divided into two key parts:

1. PET Plastic Bottle Donation Points

Four collection points were set up at:

  • Park Ventures
  • One Bangkok Site Office
  • Central Utility Plant Office
  • The PARQ

2. Miniature Furniture Model Design Competition

This was organized to raise awareness and deepen understanding of the project.

About “CONNECTS” Public Furniture

“CONNECTS” is interactive public furniture designed to reinterpret urban spaces as hubs of connection and collaboration. This work is not only functional but also serves as functional sculpture, inviting people to engage, interact, and share experiences under the concept of “connection.”

The furniture set consists of three geometric modules, which can be freely arranged and connected to form various “seatscapes.” Users can customize their setup for personal relaxation or group gatherings, reflecting the flexible and diverse nature of public spaces.

“CONNECTS” also embodies the collaborative process between One Bangkok and its partners—from waste separation, advanced recycling technology development, to furniture design—becoming a symbol of the collective power driving the project toward a sustainable future.

Sustainable Materials and Design

The primary material used is high-quality recycled plastic made from collected bottle caps. This material is processed through SCGC’s internationally certified recycling solutions, ensuring strength, durability, and vibrant colours that complement the unique design.

Using this material not only reduces environmental impact but also redefines how we perceive resources once considered “waste,” transforming them into valuable, inspiring design pieces.

CONNECTS: From “Waste” to “Worth”

The CONNECTS furniture project emphasizes the potential of effective waste management and demonstrates how collaboration and creativity can transform “waste” into “value”—and raise “awareness” into “action.” This reflects One Bangkok’s core commitment to building a sustainable and interconnected urban future.

Campaign Outcomes for a More Sustainable World

By the end of the campaign, 18,285 PET bottles were collected. This equates to:

  • A reduction of 266.2 kilograms of plastic waste from landfills
  • A reduction of 232 kgCO₂e (kilograms of CO₂ equivalent) in greenhouse gas emissions.

All collected plastic bottles were sent for recycling, with the caps delivered to SCGC to be processed into high-quality recycled plastic pellets—before being transformed into the CONNECTS public furniture.
