One Bangkok is dedicated to becoming a role model for effective and sustainable waste management. Waste generated by tenants—across both office towers and retail areas—is systematically collected and separated. By sorting waste at the source, recyclable materials are channeled into the recycling process, returning value to society and the environment.

Major recyclable waste includes:

  • Glass bottles: Processed into cullet separated by colour and sent to factories to be remelted into new bottles.
  • Paper: Collected, baled, and sent to recycling facilities for conversion into pulp for new paper products.
  • Plastic: Collected and compacted for production into plastic pellets or fibers, which are used to make eco-friendly green blankets.
  • Aluminum cans: Sent to recycling plants under the Aluminium Loop project to be fully transformed into new cans.
  • Beverage cartons: Recycled into paper pulp and Green Board.

Additionally, certain items such as plastic baskets are donated to the Chalermlap Police Flats for tree planting and other community uses. Consequently, if everyone separates waste at the source, cleans it, and prevents food contamination, it can be recycled effectively. Conversely, contaminated waste must be sent to a landfill, which then leads to environmental pollution.

To further strengthen waste management, One Bangkok not only promotes waste separation and recycling but also integrates innovation and modern technology into every stage of the process, from reducing waste at the source, to odour and pest control, to making collection and transportation more efficient and eco-friendly.

Food Waste Composter

  • Converts food waste into fertilizer for use in the project’s gardens and for donation to public parks and farmers.
  • Reduces methane emissions (a greenhouse gas contributing to global warming) from decomposing food waste.
  • Minimizes pest problems such as rodents and cockroaches.
  • Prevents unpleasant odours by drying organic waste.

Waste Compactor

  • Reduces the volume of general waste and the space required for storage.
  • Extracted liquid from compacting is treated in the project’s wastewater treatment system.
  • Reduces the number of waste collection trips, saving energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Improves staff working conditions, as waste trucks can collect directly from the compactor.
  • Minimizes odour and pest problems through a closed system.

Waste Compactor

Through systematic and innovative waste management, One Bangkok not only addresses environmental challenges but also fosters a culture of responsible waste separation in which everyone can participate. Careful attention to every stage—from waste generation to recycling and reuse—demonstrates our commitment to building a sustainable, environmentally friendly model city that enhances quality of life for all.
