Bangkok, 29 January 2026 – One Bangkok, a global lifestyle destination in the heart of Bangkok, is proud to announce its participation in “Bangkok Design Week 2026” (BKKDW2026), Southeast Asia’s largest design festival. Organised under the main theme “DESIGN S/O/S”, declaring “Signals of Survival”, BKKDW 2026 highlights the role of design as a powerful tool in ensuring the survival of businesses and cities, while driving a more sustainable world. The event welcomes transformative ideas and fosters opportunities for people of all generations and disciplines to build business networks and expand international collaborations. This year, One Bangkok has curated a diverse range of creative activities across three programmes, all reflecting its commitment to leveraging art and design as vital mechanisms for elevating quality of life, sparking inspiration, and strengthening Bangkok’s potential as a liveable, investable, and desirable city. The festival runs from 29 January to 8 February 2026.
Charintip Choomuenwai, Head of Art & Culture and Head of Strategic Branding & Creative Solutions of One Bangkok, stated, "One Bangkok is delighted to support Bangkok Design Week for the fifth consecutive year. As a partner, we are dedicated to fostering both the educational sector and the creative community in which we have collaborated and grown together throughout this festival. We believe we share a common journey, united by a collective goal to develop creative spaces that are accessible to new generations and that sustainably drive the future of Thai design and art. This year’s activities aim to empower emerging artists, designers, and students by encouraging experimentation, idea exchange, and the development of new design approaches. Together, we seek to strengthen Bangkok’s creative ecosystem and lay the foundation for a sustainable centre of opportunity for all. This vision aligns seamlessly with One Bangkok’s commitment to integrating art, culture, and design into every dimension of daily life.”
One Bangkok’s three highlight programmes at Bangkok Design Week 2026 include:
- Open Airwaves: A Sonic Portrait of Bangkok - Located at One Bangkok Park, this dynamic pop-up recording booth and creative studio is a collaboration between One Bangkok and Bangkok Community Radio (BCR). "Open Airwaves" invites everyone, regardless of experience, to step inside, explore sound, and contribute to a 'Living Archive' that captures the voices, rhythms, and ideas of Bangkok's populace. It emphasises the importance of free and creative expression in an era where cultural community spaces are evolving.
The booth’s distinctive four-part orange frame, deliberately chosen for its visual language of urgency and action, serves as a beacon for creative expression while inviting people to pause, enter, and contribute. Inside, participants will discover DJ decks, musical equipment, and a camera ready to capture their sonic moments. Whether experimenting as a DJ, singing a verse, or sketching out lyrics, visitors are encouraged to express themselves through sound. Professional-grade musical equipment, generously sponsored by Alphatheta, enhances the experience, empowering participants to create and record with ease. Outstanding contributions will be curated and shared across BCR and One Bangkok’s online platforms throughout the festival, supporting the creative community and generating new opportunities. Additionally, during the weekends, the programme will feature live performances by guest artists and renowned DJs.
- Student Design Exhibition: Silpakorn University and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) Taiwan - Housed at The Storeys Gallery, this exhibition showcases collaborative works by students from both institutions, fostering a cultural dialogue between Thailand and Taiwan, two nations with strong craft traditions. Under the concept of “Green Craft × Life Aesthetics × Local Culture”, the project focuses on seeking out environmentally friendly materials and production processes, reinterpreting local identities, designing for practical use rather than mere display, and seamlessly integrating with the aesthetics of contemporary urban life. This is achieved through presenting a fusion of indigenous craftsmanship with sustainable design, natural materials, and the application of 3D printing technology to traditional crafts.
- Young Architect Conference (YAC 2025-2026): Exhibition and Seminar on Future Architecture - Located on the 1st floor of the One Bangkok Forum, this programme features works by 121 emerging and established architects from Thailand, Japan, and Germany. It is a collaboration between students and architectural academics from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi and Bangkok University, alongside Japan's Kyoto Institute of Technology and Germany's TH Köln (University of Applied Sciences Cologne). YAC 2025-2026 offers fresh perspectives on innovation and trends in design, integrating both local and global concepts to broaden understanding in the modern era. The programme also includes a seminar on Saturday, 31 January 2026, featuring architects from all three participating countries.
