One Bangkok, Thailand’s largest integrated development in central business district of Bangkok built on people-centric principles has joined forces with THINKK Studio to launch the One Bangkok Urban Furniture Competition 2022 “Seatscape & Beyond.”

The design competition and workshop is accepting entries from university students in various disciplines who wish to create urban furniture designed specifically for One Bangkok according to people-centric principles. The participants will have a chance to win prizes worth 500,000 baht in total, in addition to enjoying a great opportunity to join workshops and design development sessions with several of Thailand’s leading design professionals.

Selected designs will receive production cost subsidies in order for them to be built and installed in One Bangkok’s public realm where the winners will enjoy all the benefits of taking part in the creation of a new world-class development in the heart of Bangkok.

“At One Bangkok, we realize that art and culture are an intrinsic part of daily life. Our vision is to create a new global landmark lifestyle destination that redefines urban living with the best in service, amenities and convenience,” said Worawat Srisa-an, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Development, One Bangkok.

“The project encompasses premium Grade A office towers, distinct retail precincts, luxury and lifestyle hotels and luxury residential towers, as well as a dedicated shared space for art and cultural activities and exhibitions, all of which combine to create new experiences of urban living,” Worawat said. “Featuring a thoughtfully planned Art Loop, the district will be linked together by its state-of-the-art facilities and richness of cultural expressions where furniture designs of the winners will be installed as part of One Bangkok’s “Public Art Collection.”

Worawat went on to say that one of the competition’s aims is to foster young talents in Thailand. “We are organizing One Bangkok Urban Furniture Competition 2022 ‘Seatscape & Beyond’ in collaboration with THINKK Studio to open up opportunities for young design talents to experiment and showcase their creative ideas in the design of public furniture,” Worawat said. “THINKK Studio will provide consultation for the competition and a design mentorship program to selected finalists that will include design workshops, incubation sessions and manufacturing techniques as well as the installation process.

“Participating young talents will have an unprecedented opportunity to build a good portfolio before graduation with a design that gets built and displayed in the public realm of a world-class development like One Bangkok. The design competition reflects One Bangkok’s determination to support the creativity of enthusiastic young people with a passion for the arts as part of our mission to fulfill our role as a supporter of Thailand’s cultural and creative industries. It will also demonstrate how much we care about all our clients’ quality of life in public spaces.”

Entries for the competition will be accepted from 1 March until 30 June 2022.
