“Fortune Teller” is conceived not merely for passive viewing, but as an open space where everyone can play, explore, and initiate a personal dialogue with nature. Inspired by the Yijing (Book of Changes) and world philosophies, the exhibition brings symbolic eyes to life as nature spirits linked to eight elemental forces: Water, Fire, Sky, Earth, Thunder, Shadow, Light, and Green Leaf. Visitors are invited to reflect upon and interpret the messages that appear and the insights received through their own stories and real-life experiences, encouraging us to look at the world from diverse viewpoints and recognise that the environment around us is not simply a “resource”, but a “fellow being” to be nurtured, respected, and lived with in harmony.
The exhibition runs from 2 October to 15 November 2026 at the main exhibition area on the 2nd Floor, The Storeys, One Bangkok, as well as across other areas throughout the project.

Imaginative Highlights Across Diverse Zones and Creative Activities
1. Interactive Projection: An interactive projection installation that brings visitors face-to-face with the spirits of nature. As spectators interact with the visuals, tailored messages and dreamlike landscapes are revealed, inviting participants to uncover meaning for themselves and fostering a dialogue between the viewer, nature, and everyday life.
2. Augmented Reality Experience: Embark on an augmented-reality adventure to search for and awaken characters hidden across One Bangkok. Visitors can download the free “Fortune Teller AR” mobile app (available on both iOS and Android) to bring each nature spirit to life and discover their underlying fears, desires, and philosophies. Once these spirits become acquainted with visitors, they act as life companions offering fresh perspectives on the world.
3. Creative Workshops: Hands-on workshops combining traditional paper crafts with digital technology. Participants can take part in diverse activities, such as designing characters from the symbolic eyes and crafting paper crowns, alongside lifestyle sessions including ceramic painting and DIY keychains.
4. Book Curation Corner: A specially curated book corner presented by The Independent Print Club (IPC) by SPACEBAR ZONE
Other Activities: Take home collectible souvenir cards featuring the eight nature spirit eyes to scan via AR and read daily inspirational guidance anytime, or snap photos with the artworks, post them on social media with the designated hashtags and check in at One Bangkok to redeem exclusive gifts including artist-designed stickers, One Bangkok Retail e-vouchers, and limited-edition shopping bags (terms and conditions apply).
About the Artist: Julie Stephen Chheng
Having graduated from Arts Décoratifs de Paris, she works in the fields of books, design and scenography both on paper and digitally. From the studio Volumique, she wrote many books and apps : Poèmes en Pièces, les Aventures d’un Village, Labyrinthe, Moving Cards, le Petit Train Postal, la Pluie à Midi.
In 2014, she was the artist in residency at the Hong Kong Arts Center and in 2016, she became the laureate for digital arts at the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto. In 2017, she presented Uramado at the Museum of Hunting and Nature and Pliés Coupés Décalés, a moving exhibition organised by the children book fair in Montreuil. Since 2018, she realises windows for Hermès in Tokyo and the Maison Hermès in Shanghai and exhibits Uramado AR, an experience in enhanced reality across the world.
She currently works on Fortune Teller and Lanscapes in Construction, two exhibition projects mixing traditional and digital practices.Through her research, Julie Stephen Chheng questions our relationship to nature by confronting the mecanisms of interpretation, built on words and images.
Her work revolves around playful and combinatorial narration inviting the spectator to place themselves amongst tangible and virtual universes.
