On the occasion of the 15th Anniversary of International Jazz Day, C asean Consonant is honored to join the global community in celebrating jazz as a powerful force for peace, dialogue, and mutual understanding. As a city where rich musical heritage meets vibrant creativity, Bangkok is uniquely positioned to be one of the hosts of this meaningful celebration. In Thailand, jazz holds a deeply meaningful place in the nation’s cultural identity through the musical legacy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (King Rama IX), an accomplished jazz saxophonist and composer whose works continue to inspire generations in Thailand and beyond.

This year’s theme, “In the Key of Peace,” reflects the growing need for understanding, connection, and coexistence in today’s world, while reinforcing the role of music as a universal language that transcends borders, beliefs, and differences. Presented through the collaboration of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), UNESCO and C asean, supported by One Bangkok, this celebration reflects the power of public–private partnerships in promoting cultural dialogue and sharing the message of peace through music.
C asean Consonant, the one and only ASEAN traditional ensemble, will present a special performance that bridges ASEAN traditional music with jazz by blending the beauty of diversity into one shared musical experience as a living example of peaceful collaboration among people from different nationalities, cultures, and languages.
For more than a decade, C asean Consonant has brought together musicians from all ASEAN countries, with difference cultures, religious and languages, demonstrating that people can live, create, and perform together in harmony despite their differences. The performance also illustrates how music can go beyond frontiers, serving as a bridge between ASEAN’s cultural heritage and the wider world.
